What happened
A car crashed outside a residential synagogue in Toms River during prayer services. Shore News Network, a regional news outlet, posted it to Facebook twice.
The first post was dash cam video, captioned as a crash outside a residential synagogue "approved under the mo hill administration's agreement with DOJ." The second called the shuls "highway residential synagogues" approved under "a deal made by former mayor Mo Hill."
Neither caption said anything about who caused the crash or whether anyone was hurt. Both said who the building belonged to and how it got approved. The second post drew 119 reactions, including angry and laughing faces, and 145 comments.
The pattern
The top visible comment on the second post, from Person A, joked that the worshippers were "all scrambling for a parking spot."
The framing matters more than any one comment. A traffic accident became a story about Orthodox houses of worship and the legal settlement that allowed them, the same grievance that runs through the Ocean County Facebook groups ANIA monitors. Four days later, a Hatzolah volunteer in the same town described a crash patient refusing care from anyone Orthodox (HR-0002).
